Back Office: Inventory - Sub Category


Navigation: Sign into the Back Office and select a Store. On the left-side, select Inventory then Subcategory.



The Subcategory page appears, including the Total Value on Hand, along with a table containing the following columns:

  1. Name – Displays the subcategory’s name.
  2. Category – The category under which the subcategory is assigned.
  3. Description – Displays description of the subcategory.
  4. Value On Hand – Displays the available amount of stock.
  5. Actions – Buttons for Edit (pencil) and Delete (trash can).
  6. Delete – The Delete pop-up including the message ‘Are you sure you want to delete this item’ appears, with Cancel and Delete options.
    1. Select Delete and the Subcategory is sent to Inactive status with a ‘Subcategory inactivated successfully’ confirmation message appearing.
    2. Select Cancel, and the Subcategory is kept in Active status.


Create or Update a Subcategory

  1. Create a new Subcategory by clicking the + New Subcategory button at the upper-right (or under the Actions column click the corresponding Edit [pencil] of an existing Subcategory).


  2. The New/Update Subcategory pane appears, with the following fields:
    1. Name – (Mandatory) Enter the name of the subcategory (maximum of 25 characters).
    2. Code – Enter the code for the subcategory (letters and numbers allowed, no maximum). 
    3. Description – Enter more details about the subcategory (letters and numbers allowed, no maximum).

  3. Click Save / Update. You’re returned to the Subcategory page with a confirmation message appearing at the top-right. If a new Subcategory was created, it will appear as a row in the table.

    1. Click X Close / Cancel to close the pane without creating / updating the Subcategory.


Delete (Deactivate) a Subcategory

  1. Identify the Subcategory to be deleted, then under the Actions column click the trash can button.


  2. On the Delete pop-up that appears, select Delete to confirm deleting Subcategory.
    1. To keep the Subcategory as Active, click X Close or Cancel.

  3. You're returned to the main Subcategory page, where the confirmation banner appears at the upper-right and the Subcategory will be removed as a row in the table (deactivated).
