Zebra DS2278 Scanner



Introduction

  1. The Zebra DS2278 Scanner can be used via Bluetooth for Native iOS and Android, as well as via USB for Android. It currently works with Special Build Version 5.3 (1.7.5) and higher. Testing for this document was done on 5.3 (1.9).

  2. If the setup of this device is attempted on any older version when scanning an item, it will ring twice for one scan of an item.


Set Up Bluetooth

  1. Sign into POS, then select Operations > QR Scanners.

  2. Enable the Enable QR Code Scanners (slid to the right and turned pink).


    1. If this is the first time you're connecting this scanner to this device: scan the Barcode on the box and the Scanner will appear on the list.


  3. When the Scanner appears on the list: touch the line item of the Scanner and it will ask you to pair.


  4. Press Pair and it will connect the Scanner to the Terminal. The Scanner will now be connected to the Terminal, marked with a pink check mark.




To Pair Another Scanner to the Device

  1. Force Close the app.

  2. Go into iPad Settings > Bluetooth. The ds2278 is not connected.

  3. Press the small (i) then choose Forget Device. This will allow you to Pair another scanner to this terminal. (


Set Up USB (Android)

  1. Plug the cable into a USB port. The Select device type pop-up appears.


  2. Select the Avoid scanning interruption option, then press Save.

  3. Select System, then Languages & input.


  4. On the Languages & input screen, select Physical keyboard.



  5. On the Physical keyboard screen, enable the Use on-screen keyboard toggle (slide to the right).


  6. After performing setup: always ensure that you force close the app then restart it.

  7. The Scanner will now be able to scan labels on the Terminal.


Helpful Tips for Android 6.0

  1. Reminder: After setup, always ensure you force close the app then restart it.
  2. If the scanner still does not work, perform the following steps:

    1. Use the Scanner to scan the Restore Factory Default for the scanner.
      1. Refer to page 63 of the ds2278 pdf to scan a real barcode, or refer to the Quick Start Guide that came with your Scanner.
      2. The below barcodes are not scannable, and are for reference only. Print these pages on a high-quality printer.


    2. Scan the Carriage Return/Line Feed barcode to add an Enter key.
      1. Refer to page 89 of the ds2278 pdf to scan a real barcode, or refer to the Quick Start Guide that came with your Scanner.
      2. Barcodes below are not scannable, and are for reference only. Print these pages on a high-quality printer.


    3. After performing both scanning steps: force close and restart the app, then test the Scanner.
