POS: Tip Threshold



  1. Thresholds for Tip amount, Tip percentage, Tip validation and Tip validation alert message will appear in BO.

  2. When a Tip has crossed the Tip Threshold settings, a Tip Approval pop-up appears in POS for the Manager to validate.


Back Office

General Settings

Navigation: Log into BO, and for your Store select Settings > Application > General Settings
  1. On the General Settings page: ensure the Tip Threshold toggle is enabled (set to YES). If enabledwhen the Tip amount is more than the Sale amount then Manager approval will be requested.
    1. If disabled (default) it will function as-is.
    2. The toggle includes the tooltip message 'Customize Tip limit'.

  2. After enabling the toggle, the following Mandatory fields appear:
    1. Tip Threshold Amount

      1. When the Tip Amount is more than the value entered in the field: a Manager's approval will be requested in POS. Only numbers will be allowed in this field.
      2. The following description appears below the field name: 'Manager approval required for closing the sale'.
    2. Tip Threshold Percentage

      1. When the Tip Percentage exceeds the value entered in the field: a Manager's approval will be requested in POS. Only numbers will be allowed in this field.
      2. The value must not be more than 100%.
      3. The transaction amount will be considered based on the Percentage and not the Check total.
      4. The following description appears below the field name: 'Manager approval required for closing the sale'.
    3. Tip Threshold Alert Message

      1. When the Tip Amount is more than the value entered in the Tip Threshold Amount, enter the Alert Message that will appear.
        1. Example: 'Please confirm if you wish to proceed with current tip amount'
      2. The alert message will be reflected only in iPad/POS.
      3. The following description appears below the field name: 'This message will be displayed in POS when tip entered is greater than the tip threshold value'.

  3. The Tip Validation alert message field should not allow more than 150 characters.

  4. Upon after enabling the toggle, the field alert message will be active.
 

Role 

Navigation: Log into BO, and for your Store select User Management > Roles


  1. The Approve Tip Validation toggle appears under the POS section.

  2. Enable the toggle by selecting the corresponding checkbox. The Role will be able to approve any Tip amount that has surpassed Threshold settings.

    1. Upon disabling the toggle, the respective Role will not have the access to approve the Tip amount which has surpassed the set Threshold settings.

  3. By default, it should be enabled for the following roles – Manager and Admin.


POS (iPad/Web/Android)

  1. When the Tip amount is greater than the Tip Threshold Amount set in BO (same for Tip Percentage and Threshold), a Manager's approval will be requested in POS.

  2. The Alert Message set in BO appears. Select YES, and the Enter PIN number pad pop-up appears for the Manager to enter their PIN set under User Management in BO) for approval.
    1. If NO is selected – it will revert to the Add A Tip screen.
    2. Note: If the User has multiple Roles and if one of the Roles has permission to bypass the Threshold - then upon entering the PIN it will allow by default, regardless of the Employee's Role.

  3. Upon successful validation of the Manager's PIN, the Sale will be completed.
    1. If unsuccessful, the Enter PIN pop-up remains with the Access Denied banner notification appearing at the upper-right of the screen.



Batch / CDS

  1. The Tip Threshold settings will also apply to Tips adjusted in both the Batch and CDS screens.

  2. The Tip entered by the Customer in CDS will be validated in POS with the respective Role. Validation will not happen from CDS.

  3. Once the Tip is entered from CDS, the POS validation will be initiated similar to the usual flow (PIN screen, Manager Approval, etc.).
    1. If validation is successful: the Tip will be approved and be reflected in CDS.
    2. If validation is unsuccessful: the Tip will not be approved and CDS will remain on the Tip.


Loader in CDS 

  1. On the CDS screen: when the PIN is entered in POS, the loader will keep spinning with the 'Waiting for manager approval' message' appearing beside it.

  2. Once a PIN is successfully entered, it will navigate to the Payment screen.

  3. When Tip is selected from CDS, the PIN screen will appear in POS.
