POS: Table Layout - Split Checks
This option is used to split the
Check for different Seats.
Note: If there is a full or partial payment on the Order, the error message 'Split is not allowed, payment(s) has been made in this check' appears.
Select the Split option and then the Table with the Order to be split. If the Table has more than one Order, the Multiple Checks pop-up will appear so that you can select the correct Order.
Split Check
When selecting Split Check, the Split Check screen appears.

Note: Only Employees with the proper Role and Permission settings have access to split the Checks. Otherwise, a prompt to enter a Manager’s PIN appears.
Add
When tapping on the Add button at the upper-right, a new Check will be added to the screen. New Checks will be added to the right. To move items to the new Check, select the Item from the original Order on the left and then select the Order to move them to.
A single item can be split between Checks using the Separate Item option at the bottom of the screen.
Separate Item
- Select a Menu Item on the Check then the Separate Item option. The selected Menu Item will get split, and the corresponding Quantity and Price will be divided accordingly.
- If Separate Item is selected before a Menu Item is, then an Error pop up appears which prompts you to select the Order to proceed.
Once the Item is selected and Separate Item is clicked, a number pad pop-up appears.

Enter the value for the number of ways it will be split, then press Continue. The Menu Item will be split.
A separated Item can be moved to adjacent Checks. Tap on one of the new Items then then tap on the Order to move it to.
Once all changes have been made, select Save & Close at the top-right of the screen.
To exit without saving any changes, select the Back button at the top-right of the screen.
To undo all changes without exiting, select the Start Over button.
Add - Once all changes have been made, select Save & Close at the top-right of the screen. To exit without saving any changes, select the Back button at the top-right of the screen. To undo all changes without exiting, select the Start Over button.
Other Actions on this Tab
Split By Seat - This action will automatically move all Items on individual Seats to new Checks. If the Items on the original Check are not split by seat, the error message 'Split by seat cannot be performed as the check has only one seat' appears.
Print - Select an Order then select Print to print the customer receipt for one of the Checks on the screen.
Print All - When selected, the customer receipt will print for all Orders.
Split by Seat
When Split By Seat is selected, the Split Seat screen appears. The Menu Items associated with separate Seats will be split into two separate Checks as the screen shows.

Add
When the Add button at the upper-right is tapped, a new Seat will be added to the screen. New Seats will be added to the right. To move items to the new Seat, select the Item from the original Seat on the left then select the Seat to move them to. A single item can be split between Seats using the Separate Item option at the bottom of the screen.
Separate Item
A single Item can be split between Seats using the Separate Item option at the bottom of the screen.
- When a Menu Item on a Check is selected then Separate Item at the bottom-left is selected: the selected Menu Item will get split, and the corresponding Quantity and Price will be divided accordingly.
- If Separate Item is selected before a Menu Item is, then an Error pop up appears which prompts you to select the Order to proceed.
Once the Item is selected and Separate Item is clicked, a number pad pop-up appears.

Enter the value for the number of ways it will be split, then press Continue. The Menu Item will be split into the number of Items selected and all Items will display on the original Seat. To move one of the new Items, tap on the Item and then tap on the Seat to move it to.

Note: Once separated, the Split Evenly option will be disabled.
Split Evenly
- Select Split Evenly to split the Items on a Check evenly to all the Seats. It's located at the lower-left of the Split Seat screen.
- By clicking Split Evenly again, the already split Items will be equally split again to all the Seats.
Note:
- If Separate Item has already been performed on the Check, then Split Evenly can't be performed.
- If Split Evenly is performed, Separate Item cannot be performed.
Group Seats
- Select the Seats to merge.
- Select Group Seats to group the Checks of the selected Seats onto a single Seat. Items will move to the first Seat that was selected.
If Group Seats is selected before selecting the Seats, the 'Select the seats to merge' pop-up appears.

Print
Select a Seat then the Print option at the lower-right to print a customer receipt for the individual Seat.
Print All
To print individual customer receipts for each Seat, select the Print All button at the lower right.
Pay
Select a Seat and then Select Pay at the bottom right to be taken to the Payment screen. The Total on the Payment screen will be for only the Seat that was selected. If Pay is selected without selecting a Seat: the error message 'Select the seat to Pay' appears.
Save & Close
When Save & Close at the upper-right is selected: any changes made on the Split Seat screen will be saved, and you are taken to the Order screen.
Start Over
When Start Over at the upper-right is selected: any made changes will be undone, with the screen updating to display only the original Check.
Rare Scenarios for Split by Check / Seat Table Layout
When an Item-Based Discount is split between the different Seats: the proportional Discount will be distributed with different Seats.
- When split evenly is done, the discount will be uniformly split the two seats and when grouped seats, the split discount will be uniformly moved to a single seat.
When a Check Based Discount is split between Seats: the Discount will be split with Seats. However, when a Split By Check is performed: the proportional Discount will be removed since the Discount is only applied to the Check.
When a Mix and Match Discount is split between different Seats, it will be split uniformly with the Seats of the Check.
When Mix and Match Discount, is split between the Checks the applied Mix and Match Discount will be removed.
An Open Item Discount will be removed when its Split By Check, but when Split By Seat it will be uniformly split.
Open Check Discount will be removed when Split By Seat, when Split By Check and also when you separate an item in Split By Check section.
